Our shortboard designs have followed some of the trends we have developed in our guns and longboards.
This has been to dramatically move the wide points back on the boards, causing the nose to become more narrowed and the tail to become more curved.
The Hyperlink design featured here is the culmination of this design trend. These boards rock, they are very versatile, can handle a wide range of wave heights and are performance masters!
This design is another shorter version of our Hyperlink design that started from the Stiletto gun design concept. The general idea behind the Hyperlink is to create a board with a very well-defined cockpit that features a lot of curve in the outline to enhance the turning abilities of the board. The nose is kept as narrow as possible to keep it out of the way. The tail is kept pinched to enhance the quad layout.
For a board this length, it is fairly wide. This was done to put more spring in the outline. The board looks normal and balanced for its length when viewed with the pulled nose and tail.
The bottom design features our standard bottom with a single concave through the center of the board, going into a deep bowled double concave, into a vee out the tail. This type of bottom lends the board a lot of squirt and complements the quad layout for the fins as it helps channel water flow to the fins.
The rocker is very strong in the tip area of the nose and then again in the tail, while the rocker through the center of the board is a little flatter to enhance speed and give the board good paddling power.
Fin setup is our standard quad layout close to the rail and slightly further forward than normal. Boxes are GEARBOX for strength and versatility.
The construction is either polyurethane/polyester, and some versions have also featured our V-Lam bamboo deck patch.
