We have been starting to do a lot more kneeboards in recent years. This is really exciting because the kneeboarding scene is very progressive and willing to experiment with new designs.
This has allowed us to explore more innovative designs that would be considered too radical for the regular surfboard market. But it also means we can generate new ideas that will trickle down to our standard board designs.
This new design is the first real rounded pintail kneeboard design we have done and is geared towards more performance in Hawaiian-style surf. Hence it is a little more pulled in the nose and tail.
This design has a concave deck for a lower center of gravity and more comfort. The concave area of the deck has been reinforced with a layer of 1/8" DCELL PVC foam and a layer of bamboo veneer.
The bottom design features our VCTR bottom, which has a single concave through the nose area, moving into a double concave and then into a bonzer-like double channel through the tail. On either side of the channel are flat panels with a roughly 4ยบ bevel onto which the fins are placed. These panels then provide nicely flat surfaces when the board is on the rail allowing the fins and the flat to work together for increased speed and turning performance. The bottom also features a chine at the rail to help transition and provide extra bite in the rails.
The fins are set up as a quad. Boxes are GEARBOX for the best strength and performance.
